About Us

The Urban Spikes Story

In 2016, our founder Courtney quit her PR career to start a family and build a home. As renovations finished, her house felt blank and dull, despite being beautifully designed. So she started experimenting with plants to complete her space. When friends and family saw what she had done, they responded immediately to her showstopping pieces, and became Urban Spikes first clients as Courtney worked out of her garage.

Urban Spikes believes that great design doesn’t just fill a space—it makes it feel alive. Our plant arrangements have the power to transform a room from cold and empty to eye-catching and memorable. This ethos resonated strongly with people in Dallas, who quickly pushed Courtney out of her garage with their demand for bespoke plant arrangements, and  in- and exterior plant designs.

Our Process

We start every process with a consultation so we can understand your space, your goals and your budget. From there, we progress to a proposal process where we present a range of options for your space before moving forward to execution.

We are happy to work on commercial or residential projects from early on in their inceptions, and frequently collaborate with architects and designers. We are familiar with We can also come into projects at a later stage to provide finishing touches, or help make updates to existing spaces.

After our proposal is approved, we move to delivery and install when your space is ready. We finish everything to the highest standard, and offer maintenance plans to keep everything looking good.

We understand that design is personal –– it’s an extension of your business ethos or the home where you’re raising your family. We pay attention to every detail and can work to elevate your style and taste into something beautiful.

"Courtney Goldberg's low-maintenance botanical arrangements business began out of a desire to decorate her Preston Hollow home with greenery. The renovation budget for the Goldbergs' ranch-style home didn't allow much for professional plant décor, so she began creating low-maintenance terrariums and modern botanical designs."

"Courtney Goldberg doesn't have a green thumb, but her home-based plant business has put her in the black. Her succulent arrangements, accented with patterned sand, gemstones and natural elements, have been spotted at charity luncheons at Neiman's, Ascension, a Kent Rathbun event, medical spas and downtown office buildings."

"After a 10-year career in public relations, Goldberg, the mother of three boys under the age of 9, discovered she had a talent as a plant designer. [...] Goldberg's store is filled with her modern botanical, succulent and cactus arrangements and also the sand, rocks, natural gemstones, driftwood and plants used to build custom orders or for shoppers who want to design their own."
